Catherine B. Hasler, Ph.D., will present on high-functioning autism in children, adolescents, and adults and how it may present in outpatient settings. The presentation will discuss how to identify patterns of communication and behavior that are indicative of high-functioning autism, treatment considerations, and community resources for this population.

Dr. Hasler is a clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience working with individuals with high-functioning autism spectrum disorders in the outpatient setting. Dr. Hasler specializes in differential diagnosis through psychological assessment and is the owner of Counseling and Assessment for Behavioral Health, Inc.

Dr. Hasler obtained her M.A. (1994) and Ph.D. (1997) from University of Missouri-Columbia in clinical psychology in the child and family track. She completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Chicago Medical Center Department of Psychiatry with particular focus on ADHD differential diagnosis and pediatric neuropsychological assessment. Dr. Hasler is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Missouri Psychological Association, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (national and Missouri chapter).

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

3. Identify barriers to effectiveness in applying traditional couple’s therapy approaches to individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
